Marion's Spring

I was asked to paint Marion in a gown she wore

to a significant occasion in her life.

As is my custom, I spent a little time

with her.  I discovered a young woman possessed of

a sharp intelligence,a distinct sense of justice, and a very active. wide-eyed curiosity about

the world she is a few short years away from entering.

In short, she impressed me as a young woman on the cusp.  This very much shaped the portrait,

as I thought of her unfolding into the remarkable woman she will become.
