Every year on my birthday, I start a self portrait.  Usually it sums up the preceding year, but also, it might simply portray me at that moment.     Sometimes, as I remember and understand a life-forming event, I'll work on a Self at a different time of the year.    Eventually the group of work will add up to a pictorial memoir.    Here is this year's painting, followed by an abridged archive of previous Selfs.
